Luke Keary (born 3 February 1992, in Ipswich, Queensland) is an Australian professional rugby league player for the South Sydney Rabbitohs of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays halfback, five-eighth and Fullback.
Early career
Born in Ipswich, Queensland, Keary moved to Sydney with his family at age 10 and played his junior football for the Hills District Bulls.[1] Keary attended Oakhill College in Castle Hill.[2]
In 2011, Keary moved to the Gold Coast where he attended Griffith University and played a season with the Burleigh Bears, playing for their FOGS Colts and Queensland Cup teams.[3] At the end of the year he won Burleigh's FOGS Colts Best Back Award.[4] He signed with the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the 2012 season.
South Sydney Rabbitohs
Keary played for the Rabbitohs' NYC team in 2012, captaining the team and playing 24 games, in which he scored 20 tries.[5] At the end of season, he was named on the bench in the 2012 NYC Team of the Year and won South Sydney's NYC Best and Fairest award.[6][7]
In Round 12 of the 2013 NRL season, Keary made his NRL debut for the Rabbitohs in their 25-18 win over the Newcastle Knights.[8]
Representative career
In 2010, Keary represented the Australian Schoolboys rugby union team.[9] That same year he represented the New South Wales Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) rugby league team at the Under 18's National Championships.[10] [11]
In 2013, he was a member of the Queensland Junior Emerging Origin squad.[12]
