Luke James Joyce (born 9 July 1987 in Bolton, Greater Manchester) is an English professional footballer who plays for Accrington Stanley as a central midfielder.
Career
Wigan Athletic
He started his football career with Wigan Athletic in June 2003,[2] but only played one game for the first team, in the 2005–06 FA Cup third round replay at Leeds United.[3]
Carlisle United
After a short trial, he joined Carlisle United, initially with the club taking over his Wigan scholarship, signing on a permanent basis in July 2006.[3] He made his league debut for Carlisle as an 85th-minute substitute against Cheltenham Town on 3 September 2006.[4] His first League goal for the Brunton Park club came in the 5–0 victory against Gillingham.[5] Despite impressing for Carlisle, former manager John Ward had been reluctant to play Joyce.[citation needed] To play regular football, Joyce joined Barrow on loan in November 2008 and made his debut for the club in the shock FA Cup second round defeat of Brentford.[5][6] He remained with the club for five weeks, leaving after their FA Cup elimination by Middlesbrough in January 2009.[5] In March 2009, he joined Northwich Victoria on a one-month loan.[7]
Accrington Stanley
He joined League Two team Accrington Stanley on 25 June 2009.[8]
