Luis Hernández Rodríguez (born 14 August 1989) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Sporting de Gijón as a right defender.

Football career

Born in Madrid, Hernández finished his football formation with hometown's Real Madrid, making his senior debuts by representing first the club's C and then the B-teams. In August 2011 he was expected to join Belgian Pro League club K.A.A. Gent,[1] but nothing came of it.

In January 2012, Hernández went on trial with Getafe CF B. However, he instead signed a 18-month deal with Sporting de Gijón, being assigned to the reserve side in Segunda División B.[2] On 2 September he made his professional debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0–0 away draw against Racing de Santander for the Segunda División championship.[3]

On 31 January 2013 Hernández was promoted to the Asturians' first team, alongside Borja López.[4]
