Luis Carlos Fariña Olivera (born 20 April 1991 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football midfielder who plays for Baniyas, on loan from Benfica.

Career

Fariña, came through the Racing Club youth development system to make his debut in the top flight in 2009, aged 18. He went on to play seven games in his first torneo, even if it wasn't until the 2013 Apertura he managed to secure regular first-team action. His performances sparked the interest of European clubs, like Benfica, Braga and Sporting.[1][2][3]

On 24 July 2013, Benfica confirmed that Fariña signed a 5 year contract, becoming the third player from Racing Club to join Benfica, after José Shaffer and José Luis Fernández.[4][5]

On 9 August, 2013, less than 20 days after signing with Benfica, Fariña was loaned to UAE league side Baniyas for one year.[6]
