Ludong University

Ludong University (simplified Chinese: 鲁东大学; traditional Chinese: 魯東大學; pinyin: Lǔdōng Dàxué) is a public university based in Zhifu discrict of Yantai, Shandong province, China. Founded in 1958, it was first know as Yantai Teachers College (烟台师范专科学校) and since 1984 as Yantai Normal University (烟台师范学院). The school was awarded full university status in 2006. Ludong University has developed into a comprehensive university, offering 48 majors in arts and sciences.

 Ludong University, founded in 1930 and located in Yantai, one of the most charming cities in China, has developed into a comprehensive institution of higher learning with practical graduates and extensive international cooperation. It predominates in disciplines such as Chinese Education, Life Science and Shipbuilding and Oceanography Engineering.

Ludong University adjusts well to the globalizing world and has launched frequent international exchanges and cooperation in different forms. The University has 21 colleges and offers 77 undergraduate programs, 82 graduate programs and 1 doctorate program. As one of the first 200 universities authorized by the Ministry of Education to recruit foreign students, one of the CIS (Confucius Institute Scholarship) accepting institutes and one of the HSK and BCT test centers, Ludong University has established friendly cooperative relationships with 61 institutions of higher learning and educational research organizations in countries such as ROK, Japan, the USA, Russia, Australia, Canada and France and engaged in extensive and fruitful cooperation with them in carrying out joint educational programs, students and faculty exchange, cultural and academic cooperation and international conferences. It has started five joint educational programs and one joint educational institution with universities from South Korea, Japan and the United States of America, established a Confucius institute with the help of French universities, and conducted undergraduate educational programs on “2+2” and “3+1” models. Because of its outstanding quality of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages, Ludong University became the first preparatory educational base for international students in 2011; meanwhile, Shandong Extension Research Center of International Chinese Education was also approved by the Educational Department of Shandong Province. In 2012, it became one of the key universities in Shandong Province in fostering applied professionals and it was also authorized to enroll doctorate students to serve the special needs of the country. Over 8000 international students have studied here and Ludong University has become one of the windows for international cooperation in Shandong Province.
