Lucas Severino (born 3 January 1979 in Ribeirão Preto, commonly known as Lucas, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward for J. League Division 1 club FC Tokyo.[1] He played for the Brazilian national team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia.[2]
Career
Rennes
After beginning his career in Brazil with Botafogo (SP) and then Atlético Paranaense, before transferring to Ligue 1 side Rennes for €21 million.[3][4] He made 72 league appearances with the side over three seasons, scoring six goals.[5]
FC Tokyo
On 1 January 2004, Lucas signed for J. League Division 1 FC Tokyo on a free transfer.[6] He played four seasons for the club, winning the J. League Cup in 2004.[7]
Gamba Osaka
On 1 January 2008, after four years at FC Tokyo, Lucas moved to J. League Division 1 club Gamba Osaka on a free transfer.[8]
Return to FC Tokyo
After three years with Gamba Osaka and a short spell in Brazil for Atlético Paranaense in 2011 Lucas retired from the game.[9][10] However, in July 2011, he returned to sign for his former club FC Tokyo in the J. League Division 2.[11] His return helped FC Tokyo to promotion from J. League Division 2 back to the J. League Division 1.
International career
Lucas made fourteen appearances for Brazil U23, appearing in the 2000 Summer Olympics, where he player three matches.[12]
