Lowestoft Lifeboat Station is an RNLI operated lifeboat station located in the town of Lowestoft in the English county of Suffolk.[1]

Location

Lowestoft Lifeboat Station is located south east of Lowestoft's harbour bridge on area called Royal Plain. The station is run by the RLNI and is one of the oldest lifeboat stations in the British Isles.[2] The stations crews and lifeboats have been involved in many notable rescues over the years. The Lowestoft lifeboat was used during the evacuation of British forces from Dunkirk in the early years of the Second World War. Over the years the crews have received 45 awards for gallantry.

Lifeboats

The current lifeboat on the station is the RNLB Spirit of Lowestoft 47-020 which is a Tyne-class lifeboat.[3] This lifeboat has been on station since 1987. Its operation number is (ON 1132)
