Trivia
- "Love Bites" was recorded and mixed by Buzzcocks with producer Martin Rushent within an impressive two and a half week period. This was accomplished less than six months after the release of their debut album "Another Music in a Different Kitchen" and in the midst of an extensive touring schedule.
- "Later for the Train" was first played and recorded on John Peel's Radio One show, along with bass played Steve Garvey's instrumental "Walking Distance".
- The distinctive guitar progression "Lipstick" also found its way into the debut chart single "Shot By Both Sides" by Howard Devoto's band Magazine. Spooky!
- Songwriter Alan Dial makes his second showing on these recordings co-writing "Just Lust" with Pete Shelley. He also co-wrote "Whatever Happened To?", the B-side of Buzzcocks debut United Artists single "Orgasm Addict". Alan Dial is a pen-name for Buzzcocks' then manager Richard Boon.
- The hand-drawn script on the sleeve for "Love Bites" was a conscious reference to painting by René Magritte, apparently John Maher's favorite artist.
- The painting "Fluttering Hearts" by famed Dadaist Marcel Duchamp was the inspiration for the sleeve of the single from the album "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)"
- "Nostalgia" was also recorded by Newcastle band, Penetration, who in 1978 accompanied Buzzcocks on the "Entertaining Friends" tour of England.
- The early 1980s band from Glasgow, Altered Images, took their name from the credit that designer Malcolm Garrett gave himself on the sleeve for "Promises". Garrett used many credits such as Arbitrary Images and Auricular Images on other Buzzcocks sleeves, eventually setting on Assorted Images as the name for his design company.
- A press release for "Love You More" drew attention to the claim that it was the world's shortest known A-side.
- "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)" was later recorded by the Fine Young Cannibals, who had chart success with it in the USA. It was heard in the soundtrack to the film The Breakfast Club.
- Love Bites remains Buzzcocks' biggest selling album.
- "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)" won NME Single of the Year in 1978.
