Louisiana Highway 3131 (LA 3131) was a state highway in Louisiana that served Pointe Coupee Parish. It spanned 1.79 miles (2.88 km) in a south to north direction, and was located completely within the city limits of New Roads. It was known locally as Hospital Road, due to its close proximity to Pointe Coupee General Hospital. However, the hospital itself is not actually located on Hospital Road. It is located a short distance north of LA 3131, along False River Drive (LA 1).
Route description
LA 3131 provided a bypass of LA 1 as it passes through downtown New Roads. From a southern intersection with LA 1, it headed north and reunited LA 1 (which is then multiplexed with LA 10) less than two miles (3 km) later. It was the hub of modern commerce for the Town of New Roads. Businesses located along LA 3131 included fast-food restaurants, grocery stores, nursing homes, and other retail outlets.
It was an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length.
History
The state highway was established in the 1955 renumbering. The road was deleted from the LADOTD database in 2012, with the highway being marked solely as LA 1 on highway maps.
Major junctions
The entire highway was in New Roads, Pointe Coupee Parish.
