Louisiana Highway 1077 (LA 1077) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Louisiana in St. Tammany Parish. It spans 20.79 miles (33.46 km) and is bannered north/south. It is known locally as Main Street, St. John Street, Covington Highway, and Savannah Road throughout its run.

Route description

The southern terminus of LA 1077 on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain faces this lighthouse constructed in 1837.

From the south, LA 1077 begins as Main Street near Lake Pontchartrain in Madisonville. It heads north along the west bank of the Tchefuncte River to an intersection with LA 22 (Mulberry Street). At this point, LA 21 begins to the north and overlaps LA 1077. After heading north four blocks further on Main Street, both LA 1077 and LA 21 turn west on St. John Street; and, two blocks farther, both routes turn north-northwestward. The two highways split less than a mile farther, with LA 1077 continuing in a north-northwestward direction, eventually meeting I-12 at a diamond interchange (Exit 57). Shortly thereafter, LA 1085 crosses, and, farther north, US 190 at Goodbee. LA 1077 turns eastward about five miles (8 km) later and crosses the Tchefuncte River. Shortly thereafter, a LA 1078 exits to the east-southeast while LA 1077 continues northward as Savannah Road. Shortly thereafter, LA 1077 turns eastward to its terminus at LA 25.

All of LA 1077 is two lanes wide with exception of the on-off ramps at Interstate 12 between Madisonville and Goodbee.

History

LA 1077, except for the westeast stretch intersecting LA 25, is the southern section of an early road which connected Madisonville with Greensburg, Louisiana, and which is now largely otherwise obscured in farmland.
