Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13 (1994), later renamed Apollo 13, is a book written by Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger. It is about the failed Apollo 13 Lunar landing mission, of which Lovell was the commander. The 1995 Ron Howard movie Apollo 13 is based on the book.
The Apollo 13 mission was the third intended to land on the Moon. An explosion on board crippled the Service Module, containing the majority of the life support systems for the ship. This resulted in the abort of the Lunar landing, and very minor chances of the safe return of astronauts: Jim Lovell, Fred Haise and Jack Swigert. The mission became famous because of the successful safe return of the 3 men, despite the remote chances of their survival.
