Lorna Dunkley (born Bodmin, Cornwall) is a news anchor for Sky News, Sky's 24-hour television news network. She hosts programming from the Sky News Centre in West London, including weekend slots from 12-noon to 2.00pm, as well as every Monday from 2.00pm - 5.00pm.

Early life

Dunkley was born in Bodmin[citation needed] and grew up in Cornwall.[citation needed]

Education

Dunkley undertook part-time school work with both BBC Radio Cornwall and Pirate FM 102. She graduated in Communication Studies from the University of Glamorgan and completed a post-graduate course in Broadcast Journalism at University College Falmouth.[citation needed]

Life and career

Dunkley undertook researcher work with ITV Westcountry in Plymouth.[1] She then became a reporter, covering stories including the Devon road protests and the environmentalist Swampy’s eight day long underground protest. She then became a presenter in 2000, fronting Westcountry Live.[2]

After going freelance, Dunkley joined Sky News in 2002, and after a period as a reporter presented Sky News Sunrise, Live at Five, Sky News Today and Sky News at Ten, mostly at weekends. She moved from Sky News Sunrise to further strengthen the weekend presenting line-up, joining Steve Dixon, Mark Longhurst and Chris Roberts.[3]

Awards

Dunkley was named the BT West Young Journalist of the Year in 1997, and attended a Buckingham Palace reception for young achievers in 1998.

Family

Dunkley married Brad Higgins in Bodmin in 2000.[4] He is Director of Programmes at the Sky-owned horse racing channel At the Races. The couple live in west London.[5]

In her youth she played Rugby Union for Bodmin ladies, but now enjoys skiing and playing the piano.

She is the second cousin of Emma Dunkley from Citywire Wealth Manager.
