Loren Galler-Rabinowitz (born January 19, 1986, in Boston, MA) is an American ice dancer and pageant titleholder. She is the 2004 U.S. ice dancing bronze medalist with David Mitchell. Galler-Rabinowitz competed in the Miss America 2011 pageant.[1]

Personal life

Galler-Rabinowitz graduated from The Park School and then from Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge in 2004 and from Harvard University in 2010.[1] She is now enrolled at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons pursuing an MD degree.

Ice dancing career

Galler-Rabinowitz began figure skating at the age of two and moved into ice dancing when she was nine.[2] She also played the piano since the age of ten months and won the Massachusetts state piano competition in the junior high division.[3]

Galler-Rabinowitz competed in ice dancing with partner David Mitchell from age 11 to 20. The dance team won the 1999 North American Novice Challenge Skate in Toronto, the 2000 United States Figure Skating Eastern Sectional Championships (Novice), the 2000 United States Championships (Novice), the 2002 Eastern Sectional Championships (Junior), and the 2002 United States Championships (Junior). They placed fourth overall at the 2003 Junior World Championships, and were the Junior World Compulsory Dance winners. Galler-Rabinowitz and Mitchell won the pewter medal at the 2003 United States National Championships (senior) and a bronze medal at the 2004 U.S. Championships,[4] a total of four national medals in four years.

They missed the following year's national championship due to Mitchell's shoulder injury.[5] The dance team competed on the international (ISU) Junior Grand Prix and Grand Prix circuits and at the Four Continents Championships. Galler-Rabinowitz's partnership with David Mitchell ended following the 2006 Nationals.

In March 2011 the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame awarded her the Marty Glickman Award, as the female Jewish Athlete of the Year.[6]
