Longhill High School is a technology specialist school, located in Rottingdean, Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. It is led by head teacher Haydn Stride.
History
The School was officially opened in 1964, although took its first intake in 1963. On the 16th of September 2010, it opened its new block officially, named "Vaughan Block" after one of the longest serving teachers after a campaign on the Social Networking site, Facebook.[1]
The X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza was a student at the school.
Students
The school is currently able to educate 1200 children, but building work on a new block was completed in September 2010. The school is open to students living in a wide range of areas in Brighton. There are pupils from:

- Saltdean
- Rottingdean
- Woodingdean
- Ovingdean
- Kemp Town
- Whitehawk
- Some also as far as Portslade and Moulsecoomb
Initiatives and projects
Longhill High School is involved in many different projects, some of which are listed below.
- Shortlisted for Learning through Landscapes' Fruit-ful Schools (website) project.
- Many pupils are part of the Young Gifted and Talented Programme.
- Some students are part of the Aim Higher scheme.
Sports and clubs
Longhill High School offers a wide variety of clubs. Autumn to spring teams include football, year 7 to year 11, both male and female teams, rugby, year 7 - year 9, boys and girls (girls teams generally less participants). Summer sports include cricket (years 7 - 9), tennis club (years 7 - 10), athletics (including field and track events) and girls' rounders as well as dance. Longhill also has a Combined Cadet Force (CCF), running all year long, which has won several awards, such as best drill team and best first aid team. Longhill also offers great music facilities, such as music lessons (a wide variety of instruments from violin to drums), practice rooms to book at lunch and after school, a mixed choir and a variety of different genre bands to join. Also keen homework groups (Years 7-9) and revision sessions ( years 10 and 11) run frequently after school and at lunch times. New groups start every term and any suggestions for new groups from parents and students are welcome.
