It is a 2-stage carrier rocket mainly used for launching LEO and SSO satellites. It is mainly launched from areas 2B and 2S at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center but can be launched from China's other satellite launch centers. The Long March 2D made its maiden flight on 9 August 1992. It is most commonly used to launch FSW-2 and 3 reconnaissance satellites. The general designer of Long March 2D is Mr. Ma Jia (马佳). It is part of the Long March 2 rocket family.
Launches
The Long March 2D made its maiden flight on 9 August 1992. It has so far had a perfect launch record of 15 consecutive successful launches. On 25 May 2007, a Long March 2D conducted China's 100th successful orbital launch, when it placed the Yaogan 2 satellite into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China's Gansu Province. It also successfully launched the Yaogan-4 satellite on 1 December 2008.[3] This was the 113th launch of China's Long March series of rockets.
