Phases

Londonderry Mall went through two phases. Phase one occurred in 1972 and the mall had 85 stores and services. The tenants at the time were Woolco, The Bay, Safeway, and a twin theatre. The mall was very simple as it was a stretch between Woolco and The Bay. There were two pairs of escalators in the mall and one in The Bay. Phase two occurred in 1984 and it added 65 stores and services. The mall also received an elevator in the main corridors and two more pairs of escalators. In 1989-1990, Londonderry mall went through a total renovation. The renovation changed the mall from a dark, gloomy, street themed mall to a bright, open and colourful mall. The mall was designed to hold fung shui principals, such as running water, skylightes and openess.[citation needed]
