Lod Crater

Tear-drop shaped islands caused by flood waters from Maja Vallis, as seen by Viking Orbiter. Image is located in Oxia Palus quadrangle. The islands are formed in the ejecta of Lod Crater, Bok Crater, and Gold Crater.

Lod Crater is a crater in the Oxia Palus quadrangle of Mars, located at 21.2° N and 31.6° W. It is 7.5 km in diameter and was named after a town in Israel.[1]

Lod Crater is famous for showing clear evidence that it was affected by floods of water from Maja Valles on Mars.
