The Llankanuku Lakes[1] (hispanicized spelling Llanganuco), Chinanqucha and Urqunqucha, are situated in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. They lie in the Ancash Region, Yungay Province, Yungay District, about 25 km north-east of Yungay.[2][3] The lakes are part of the Huascarán National Park.

Chinanqucha

Chinanqucha (Quechua china female, -n a suffix, qucha lake,[4] "lake of the female", hispanicized Chinancocha) lies at an altitude of 3,850 metres (12,631 ft) and covers an area of 0.548 km².[5] It is situated southwest of Urqunqucha.

Urqunqucha

Urqunqucha (Quechua urqu male / mountain,[6] "lake of the male", hispanicized Orconcocha, Orgoncocha) lies about 1 km away from Chinanqucha at the end of the Llankanuku valley.
