"Live to Rise" is a song by the American rock band Soundgarden, that was released by Hollywood Records on iTunes and other digital music stores on April 17, 2012 with iTunes offering a free download of the single for the first week of availability.[1] The track is featured in the film The Avengers and is included on Avengers Assemble: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture. It is the first Soundgarden song to be both fully recorded and released since the band reformed in 2010, as "Black Rain" was partly recorded in the early 1990s.[2] The single has been described as a "riff-heavy rocker" that according to Chris Cornell would "work just fine" on the band's then-upcoming album King Animal even though it did not necessarily represent the entire album's sound.[3] Despite earlier speculation, "Live to Rise" never appeared on King Animal.[4]
