Line holder

A line holder is an H-shaped piece of wood, plastic or stainless steel used to wrap a small rope such as a line.

Usage

It is usually used in conjunction with a surface marker buoy or a delayed surface marker buoy by divers. In this case negative buoyancy is important in order to safely unwind the line underwater:

  • the scuba diver can drop the line holder and wait from a safe distance for the partial or complete unwinding;
  • a negative buoyancy line holder will greatly reduce the risk of losing it.
