Lincoln United F.C. is an English football team which plays in the Northern Premier League. The club is based in Lincoln. 'The Whites', as they are commonly known, play at the Ashby Avenue ground, which backs on to Hartsholme Country Park.

History

Lincoln United Football Club began life as Lincoln Amateurs in 1938 and were admitted to the Lincoln League. In 1951, they signed a professional player from Nottingham Forest, which meant that they could no longer qualify as amateurs. After a brainstorming session between the players following an away match in Sleaford, they came up with the name Lincoln United. They became champions of the Northern Counties East Football League Premier Division in the 1994-95 season, gaining promotion to the Northern Premier League First Division.

Following a disappointing season that saw the departure of manager John Ramshaw and the failed appointment of Mark Shaw, the Whites were relegated to the Northern Premier League Division One South. Former keeper and erstwhile reserve team boss, Seamus Lawless, was subsequently handed the task of restoring credibility and led his charges into the 2008–09 season.

They reached the first round proper of the FA Cup in seasons 1991–92 and 1997–98.

Stadium

The club plays at The NTR Stadium at Ashby Avenue, which has a capacity of around 2,000. One stand holds approximately 250 seating and standing elsewhere in the ground.

There is a clubshop inside the ground selling everything from replica shirts to badges and most things inbetween.

The canteen serves hot and cold food each game and is next to our Hospitailty Suite which can be booked on matchdays.
