Lily Randall is a character from the teen drama Radio Free Roscoe.

Biography

The resident girl next door, Lily Randall has a passion for music, which is hampered by her crippling self-consciousness. She works to overcome her infirmity over the course of the series, however, allowing her to finally step out from behind her alter ego and form her all-girl rock trio, "No Man's Land", in which she is lead vocalist and plays lead guitar. While few things make her happier than spending time with her fellow DJs (particularly her best friend and crush, Ray Brennan), she often has trouble reconciling her confusion and angst and, whether she intends to or not, often finds herself acting in a deceptive or hurtful manner toward her friends. Lily Randall acts as Radio Free Roscoe's unofficial music director, preparing original songs, short pieces, introductions and special effects for the station. She lives with her father, Philip Randall, and sister, Simone Randall. Her radio name, "Shady Lane", came from the song of the same name by Pavement which inspired her to begin playing the guitar.

Lily was originally going to be a character named "George".

No Man's Land

No Man's Land is Lily's first band, with other members including Parker and Megan. According to the creators of the show, the band was originally going to be called No Boyz Allowed. The band was essentially first formed in "You've Got E-mail", when Megan was first introduced. The members frantically tried to come up with a name for the band until deciding on No Man's Land.

Songs

  • "Don't Tell Me What to Do" (from the episode "More Than a Single"; written and performed by Lily only)
  • "You Belong to Someone Else" Watch clip
  • "Superman" Watch clip
  • "Untitled" (Most likely titled "I Don't Care") Watch clip
  • "I Can't Explain" (from the Radio Free Roscoe, Volume 1 CD soundtrack)
  • "I've Got Spirit" (from the episode "Rah Rah Revenge")

Lily also performed many of her own songs over the course of the show, including one that her and Travis recorded and marketed as a single. The majority of the songs she, and for that matter, No Man's Land performed were left untitled, leaving fans to make up their own titles for the tracks.
