"Like a Star" is a song by English soul singer–songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae from her self-titled debut album, Corinne Bailey Rae (2006). Released in November 2005 as her debut single and re-released in October 2006, the song was nominated for the 2008 Grammy Award for Song of the Year. It remains Bailey Rae's biggest hit single in the USA to date, and her only one to reach the Top 60 of the Billboard Hot 100.
The song was included on the international soundtrack of the Brazilian soap opera Sete Pecados.
The song was performed by The Voice UK contestant Becky Hill in the second Semi-Final and a studio version was recorded for 'The Voice UK, The Final 8 - The Album'.
Original release
"Like a Star" was originally released in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2005 in a limited-edition format; only 3000 copies were made, becoming much sought-after item by Rae fans. It was sent out to test the water ahead of a proper release, and after Rae gave a critically acclaimed performance of the song on Later... with Jools Holland, it instantly sold out. The single's music video was directed by James Griffiths.
Written entirely by Rae herself and produced by Steve Chrisanthou, "Like a Star" won much critical praise and was championed by Radio 1 DJs Colin and Edith. The rich soulfulness of the vocals and the laid-back smooth production introduced the world to Rae.

"Like a Star" was re-released in the UK on 9 October 2006 due to the popularity of the song. A new music video, directed by Sam Brown, was shot for the reissue and the single peaked at number 32, two places above where it originally reached in November 2005. The single was released in the United States in January 2007 and debuted at number 56 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Rae performed this song and "Trouble Sleeping" on NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on 27 November 2006. It was used in the ABC television shows Grey's Anatomy and Men in Trees, as well as in an episode of Medium on NBC and CSI: NY on CBS.
