A Lift ticket or lift pass is an identifier usually attached to a skier's outerwear that indicates they have paid and can ride on the ski lift up a mountain to ski.
Lift tickets can be purchased for various periods of time ranging from a season pass to a daily ticket. Tickets may also be restricted to various types of lifts. Tickets can be subject to revocation for serious infractions of established rules.[1]
Many ski resorts have recently switched to using digital cards embedded with RFID chips to speed up lift lines and allow more convenient online reloading. These cards are kept in a pocket during the skier's visit to the resort as they do not need to be removed for the access gate to detect them.
