Lewis Carl Dunk (born 21 November 1991) is an English footballer who plays for Brighton & Hove Albion as a defender.

Club career

Dunk was born in Brighton, East Sussex.[1] On 30 April 2010, Dunk signed a two-year professional contract with Brighton & Hove Albion following impressive performances captaining the club's youth-team.[2] The following day, Dunk made his first professional appearance starting in the 0–0 draw at Milton Keynes Dons.[3]

On 31 January 2011, Dunk signed a one year extension on his contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2013.[4] Dunk made eight appearances in the 2010–11 season as Brighton gained promotion to the Championship.

With fellow defenders Tommy Elphick and Adam El-Abd sidelined by injury, Dunk started the 2011–12 season alongside captain Gordon Greer, playing in Brighton's first ever match at Falmer Stadium versus Doncaster Rovers. On 4 October 2013, Dunk joined Bristol City on a one-month loan deal.[5]

International career

Dunk received his first call-up to the England under-21 squad in November 2011, ahead of their European Championship qualifiers against Iceland and Belgium.[6]

Personal life

On 19 January 2012, Dunk was one of five Brighton players who were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.[8] He was found not guilty of voyeurism in a trial at the Old Bailey in February 2013, though the jury failed to reach a verdict on a charge of sexual assault.[9] A retrial began in May 2013,[10] meaning Dunk would likely miss the play−off semi finals.[11]
