Thintail (Lepturus) is a grass genus in the Poaceae family. The related monotypic genus Hainardia was formerly included in Lepturus. Species within this genus are often found in tropical or subtropical ecosystems; an example occurrence is on certain islands within the Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea.(C.Michael Hogan. 2011)
This is the namesake genus of the tribe Leptureae, but the validity of this group, like so many proposed Chloridoideae tribes, requires verification.
Selected species
- Lepturus calcareus
- Lepturus pulchellus
- Lepturus repens – Pacific Island Thintail
