Leonard Fournette III (born January 18, 1995) is an American football running back from New Orleans. He is the No. 1 overall recruit in his class according to ESPN.[1]

Early Years

Raised in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Fournette attends St. Augustine High School, where he has been a starter since his freshman year.[2] He rushed for more than 2,500 yards and 30 touchdowns his first season, and became the first-ever freshman to earn a scholarship offer from Louisiana State.[2]

During his senior season, Fournette had a heralded performance with two touchdowns and 262 yards rushing against John Curtis Christian High School, which was nationally televised by ESPN2.[3]

Fournette also ran track and field for the St. Augustine High School track team. His 200 metres regional mark of 21.57 seconds is tops in 4A, and his 10.68 in the 100 metres is only .02 off the best time. He also competed in the 4 x 100 metres relay and 4 x 200 metres relay.

At the 2014 Under Armour All America Game, Fournette announced his decision to attend LSU.[4]
