History
Inception LendingTree Founder, Doug Lebda, found the process of visiting multiple banks and combing through mortgage offers time consuming and exhausting; he knew there was a better option. Launched in 1998, LendingTree was created to provide consumers a centralized location to receive multiple loan offers. [1]
Growth In May of 2003, LendingTree, LLC was acquired by IAC/InterActiveCorp, former owner of Ticketmaster, Home Shopping Network and current owner of Match.com. After 5 years, LendingTree spun off from IAC to join newly established Tree.com, Inc. Tree.com is the parent company of several brands and businesses in the financial services and real estate industries including LendingTree.com; GetSmart.com; DegreeTree.com; LendingTreeAutos.com; and DoneRight.com.[2]
In 2011, LendingTree opened a new office in Burlingame, CA. [3]
