"Lego House" is a song by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. It was released as the third single lifted from the debut studio album + on 11 November 2011.[1] It was released as the second single in the US on 11 February 2013.[2] The song was written by Ed Sheeran, Jake Gosling, Chris Leonard and produced by Jake Gosling. It received its first radio play on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show on 8 September 2011[3] and was the first Ed Sheeran song to make the BBC Radio 2 playlist. The song has peaked at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. The remix featuring P Money premiered on MistaJam's BBC Radio 1Xtra show on 30 September 2011. The music video features Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, as a play on their similar appearance.

Composition

According to the sheet music published by Jordan James EMI Music Publishing, "Lego House" is written in the key of B major; Sheeran's vocals range from the note of Bb3 to G5. Instrumentation is provided by guitar, piano and vocals. "Lego House" interpolates genres indie folk, pop rock and soul music.[4]

Music videos

The video for "Lego House" was released on 20 October 2011 on Sheeran's YouTube channel. It stars actor Rupert Grint.[5]

The video's narrative at first portrays Grint as Sheeran, performing such activities as writing lyrics for the song on a pad of paper, lounging in his tour bus, and ultimately taking the stage for a cheering crowd. However, after Grint takes the stage and is immediately tackled by security, it is slowly revealed that Grint is actually a doppelganger of Sheeran and an obsessive fan, and that the events of the video were actually him stalking the real Ed Sheeran with increasing severity and mental instability (writing the song was actually transcribing the lyrics from the album cover, and lounging in the bus was him breaking into it), ending with Sheeran and Grint meeting as Grint is forcibly removed from a music venue and Sheeran comes out of an elevator. It was filmed at the Forum, University of Hertfordshire.

A "Lego-fied" version of the original music video for "Lego House" was released on April 11, 2013 on The Warner Sound's YouTube channel.[6] The video is a shot for shot recreation in LEGO bricks, directed by Dylan Woodley. The music video also got nominated for 2013 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Male Video before losing out to Bruno Mars's Locked Out of Heaven.[7]
