Renamed the I Lift NY, the barge and crane was built to help replace the eastern span of the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge. There it was used to place pre-fabricated falsework truss sections, and then was used to place prefabricated steel deck structure box segments that became the main span.[1]

With a boom length of 328 feet (100 m), weighing 992 short tons (886 long tons) and having a 1,800 short tons (1,607 long tons) lift capacity, it is the largest barge crane ever used on the U.S. West Coast.

As of January 27, 2014, the crane is on its way from San Francisco Bay to the Port of New York and New Jersey.[2]

The massive crane is expected to be used during construction of the replacement for the Tappan Zee Bridge across the Hudson River in New York State by Tappan Zee Constructors, a consortium of companies that includes American Bridge Company.[3] The crane transited the Panama Canal en route to New York in mid January 2014.[4]
