Lawrence Doe (born 3 September 1986 in Monrovia, Liberia) is a naturalized Equatoguinean footballer who plays as a central defender for Al-Shabab in the Omani League.

Club career

Doe began playing football in his homeland, Liberia. He was first on the squad of Saint Anthony, which was then coached by Frank Jericho Nagbe.[2]

After being participated for some first division clubs of his native country for several years,[3] Doe played three seasons in Mali, then moved in 2005 to Equatorial Guinea,[4] where he represented Renacimiento FC.

In 2007, he moved to Spain, where he played for several teams in the lower leagues, the highest ranked being Águilas CF in the third division; in January 2010, he also had a brief spell in Oman, with Bahla Club, after which he returned to Spain again and joined Pulpileño. Then in 2011 he came to back Oman and signed a deal with Al-Shabab. Then he had a brief spell in Greece with clubs like Platanias and Apollon Smyrni. He then came to Saudi Arabia and played only one match for Al Raed in the Saudi Professional League. Later in 2013, he signed a deal with one of his old clubs Al-Shabab of Oman.

International career

When Doe played in Mali for Stade Malien, he met with Izetta Sombo Wesley, president of the Liberia Football Association who was in Bamako with the national team in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations. They exchanged telephone numbers, but finally Doe was never called by Liberia. In 2005, he transferred to Renacimiento and accepted to play for the Equatorial Guinea, then coached by Brazilian Antônio Dumas.[5] With his adopted nation, Doe appeared in the 2006 CEMAC Cup, the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualification and the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification (except against South Africa in Malabo). Also, he appeared in B matches against Brazilian side Cruzeiro Esporte Clube[6] and the regional team of Pará de Minas in 2005,[7] the Region of Murcia[8] and Extremadura in 2007,[9] and at the Mundialito de la Inmigración y la Solidaridad in 2009.[10]

In 2011, Doe scored against French club RSC Montreuil,[11] Brittany, France U-20, OGC Nice and the National Union of Professional Footballers.[12]
