Lauriane Gilliéron (born July 25, 1984 in Lausanne, Vaud) was crowned Miss Switzerland 2005 on September 21, 2005, the first from the French-speaking part of the country in 11 years.

Miss Universe 2006

Lauriane went to the Miss Universe 2006 pageant as one of the favorites. Her performance in the finals earned her a placement of 2nd-Runner up at the beauty pageant, which took place in Los Angeles, California on July 23, 2006. It became Switzerland's best placement in this international event. The previous best record was a 3rd Runner-Up in 1983.

Background

She was born in Lausanne, but grew up in Prilly where her father is mayor. She wanted to study Law at the University of Lausanne before being elected. Lauriane has been a vegetarian since the age of 7, and is the eldest of four children. She speaks some German, French, some Italian and some English.

Lauriane was second in the Swiss Latin Dance Championships in 2002 and 2003, and has represented Switzerland internationally in Latin Dance competitions. She hopes to become both a lawyer and an actress, and to come up with her own animal-protection law.

Lauriane competed in Miss World 2005 but did not place. The pageant was won by Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland.

She has dated Swiss professional ice hockey player Michael Ngoy and actor Shemar Moore.

She currently resides in Los Angeles to become an actress and is dating Chad Schropp met on the set of Days of our Lives.[1]

Lauriane is in the latest ad of Nespresso along with George Clooney.
