Laplacian pyramid

A Laplacian pyramid is a technique in image processing and uses the concept of pyramids. It is very similar to Gaussian pyramid with the alteration that it uses a Laplacian transform instead of a Gaussian.
A Laplacian pyramid can be used in image compression.[1]
