Lankan Cricket Club

Lankans Cricket Club is a first class cricket team in Canada. The Lankans Cricket Club have changed management, Indran Rajanathan the new director of the club, has put together a new committee to improve the management aspect of the club. The new management has also added a under 13, 15,17 as well as the senior team which they had from the founding days of the club. Lankans Cricket Club which previously only played in the Etobicoke League in the Premier division will also play in the Toronto and District League.

The new executive committee put into place is as follows; Ashantha Jayalath- President, Shama Sarap - Secretary, Shantha Dassanayaka - Treasurer, Lalith Arambewela - Membership secretary.

History

Lankans Cricket Club was founded in January 2007. It consists of those Sri Lankan players playing for different teams who felt that it was time to make an elite team. With great ambition, the search began for great talent. Initially, it wasn't easy for Lankans to establish itself at once. It had to go through a lot of trials and practices as the players kept coming and going, so it was hard to decide the cream of the crop.

A lot of players contributed in surfacing the Lankans. But as the time passed and the season came closer, Lankans was finally able to pull out the original talent from the players.

Today, Lankans are seen as a fierce competitor with emerging talent. Having finished their first season as champion and play off runners up with an impressive record of 11 wins (which kept Lankans on top of the 'Gonzales Conference' in 2007 [first season of Lankans] ), Lankans will continue to perform and succeed at higher levels of cricket. Lankans Cricket Club has established an under 13, 15,17 as well as a senior team which play in the Toronto and District league.
