Langside College

Langside College is a further and higher education college located in the Mount Florida / Battlefield region of Glasgow.

It was established in 1947 and enrols over 5,000 students every year of whom many are from countries outwith the European Union, the college currently operates in two main campuses and in over 80 community based venues spanning much of the Southside of Glasgow. Phase 1 of a newly built main campus was opened in May 2009 while phase 2, incorporating new sport, music and drama facilities, was opened in August 2010. The final phase - an outdoor sports facility - was completed in February 2011. The present Principal is Andrew Haddon.

The Langside Campus sits very close to the rail network and several major bus routes. The city centre is only 7 minutes away by train of which there are 4 every hour from Mount Florida railway station.

A number of buses from across the city pass by regularly also. Namely the 5, 34, 44, 44A, 66, 31, 89 and 90 from Firstbus.

Mergers

Langside College first entered merger talks with Cardonald College and Anniesland College in January 2012.

On 28 August 2012 a formal consultation was launched and will run until 16 November 2012.[1]

On 14 December 2012 Cardonald College principal Susan Walsh was appointed principal of the new college when it is due to vest on 1 August 2013. [2]

The proposed name for the new college is Glasgow Clyde College.
