Landhaura is a town and a nagar panchayat in Haridwar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Landhaura had a population of 16,022. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Landhaura has an average literacy rate of 36%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 42%, and female literacy is 28%. In Landhaura, 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

History

The Landhaura state has been formed by a Gurjar chief in the 18th century, and when the area came under British occupation in 1803, it was ruled by Gurjar king Ramdayal Singh. His descender Kunwar Pranav Singh is M.L.A. in Khanpur Constituency. Kranti Film based on Landhaura Riyasat of Gurjars directed by Manoj Kumar . [3]

Politics

It is an electoral constituency of Uttarakhand State Legislative Assembly of Haridwar district,[4] and the current MLA from Landhaura is Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion.[5]
