Lancaster Newspapers Inc. publishes the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era, a 73,000-circulation daily Monday through Saturday, the 93,000-circulation Sunday News and LancasterOnline, a related online news website. Additionally, it publishes three weekly newspapers, Lancaster Farming, distributed throughout the mid-Atlantic region, the Lititz Record and the Ephrata Review. On a bi-weekly schedules, it publishes La Voz Hispana, a newspaper for the Hispanic community of Lancaster, and Fly Magazine, an entertainment monthly, distributed in Lancaster, York and Dauphin counties.
The headquarters and printing operations for the daily newspapers, La Voz and Fly Magazine are located in the city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lancaster Farming, the Lititz Record and Ephrata Review are published in Ephrata, Pa.
Lancaster Newspapers is a part of Steinman Communications, which also holds Intelligencer Printing, one of the oldest commercial printing houses in the US, Delmarva Broadcasting, a network of 11 radio stations in Delaware and Maryland, and Steinman Coal in southwestern Virginia.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era is a morning newspaper with a daily circulation of more than 70,000 and readership of over 200,000. The original Intelligencer Journal is the oldest of the Lancaster Newspapers, established in 1794. It was purchased by Andrew Jackson Steinman in 1866. The editorial page of the Intell, which is included as part of the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era, reflects the moderate to Democratic-liberal tradition of the original morning newspaper.
Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. also had an afternoon newspaper called the Lancaster New Era which was purchased by the Steinman family in 1928. This paper had started as the Lancaster Examiner in 1877. Its final edition was published Friday, June 26, 2009. On Monday, June 29, 2009, elements of this paper were combined with the former morning Intelligencer Journal to create the first edition of the new, combined Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era. The former Lancaster New Era editorial page continues to be included in the combined Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era and reflects the New Era's Republican-conservative history. The Sunday News was established by James Hale Steinman and John Frederick Steinman in 1923. It was Lancaster County's first local Sunday newspaper.

Lancaster Newspapers also owns three area newspapers - Lancaster Farming, a farming newspaper, the Lititz Record and the Ephrata Review, both weekly newspapers. The offices and production operations for these three newspapers are located in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Its publication La Voz Hispana, translated as The Hispanic Voice, is the major news sources for the Spanish-speaking publication that produces local stories as well as issues and events in the Spanish-speaking world.
In addition to the printed papers, Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. is strongly entrenched in the Internet. Its premier website is LancasterOnline.com, which was launched in 1995. Much of the main news is regularly displayed and updated throughout the day. Additional photos plus videos and updated weather, blogs and other features are included. Seven-day print subscribers also have access to eEditions, the electronic replica of the newspaper on LancasterOnline.com. In addition to LancasterOnline.com, there are many, more specialized, niche websites operated by Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. including LancMoms.com (for active moms), LancJobs.com (for job seekers and companies seeking employees), LancMarketplace.com (online Lancaster County business directory), as well as websites for Lancaster Farming, The Ephrata Review and the Lititz Record Express.
Support Departments
Other departments at Lancaster Newspapers support all three newspapers. Retail, general, and classified advertising sales representatives sell ad space for each newspaper. The Marketing department, which includes copy writing, special features, creative art, research, database, telemarketing sales, interactive media, Newspaper-In-Education and community services assists other departments. The production department supports the composition, layout and printing of both the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era and the Sunday News.
More than 300 individuals work around the clock to inform readers of the latest local, state, national and international news as it happens.
Production
The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster and Sunday News are printed on a 14-unit Flexoman Press. Flexography is a printing process involving flexible raised surfaces and water based inks. Flexo ink dries rapidly and does not rub-off on the reader's hands.
At full speed, the press prints 70,000 copies an hour - 19 complete newspapers per second.
The circulation department handles insertion of advertiser fliers and circulars as well as distribution of the newspapers throughout Lancaster and the surrounding counties. District managers in this department work with nearly 500 independent contracted newspaper carriers.
Mainframe and personal computers are used in each department at Lancaster Newspapers. IT experts in data processing develop and maintain the modern computers and programs necessary for today's communications systems. Interactive media experts design websites and write html code to display all the features shown on our various websites.
Location
Lancaster Newspapers is located in historic downtown Lancaster less than a 1-minute walk from the Lancaster County Convention Center. Retail shops, farmers' markets, restaurants, and the county courthouse are nearby. Of special interest is the award-winning Steinman Park. The park was dedicated in June, 1981, in memory of James Hale Steinman and John Frederick Steinman for the enjoyment of the people of Lancaster County.
