Lancashire Road

Lancashire Road is an inclined street in Kowloon Tsai, Hong Kong. It marks the political boundary between Kowloon Tong and Prince Edward constituencies of Kowloon City District. Most parts of the road is one-way downhill towards Waterloo Road.

Location

Succeeding Nga Tsin Wai Road, Lancashire Road starts from a junction with La Salle Road. It runs west afterwards on a dual single-lane carriageway until it meets Oxford Road. Upon meeting Oxford Road, Lancashire Road turns into a four-lane one-way street running westbound. It meets Ho Tung Road on the left and Cambridge Road on the right and finally terminates at Waterloo Road. Lancashire Road is then succeeded by Essex Cresent on the other side of Waterloo Road. Horizontal distance of Lancashire Road is 350m.

Name

Lancashire Road is named after Lancashire, England when the British colonial settlers first named streets in Kowloon Tong after their hometowns, thereby making their new residence more like their homeland.

Features

Situated along the boundary of Kowloon Tong, Lancashire Road is home to many schools and residential buildings. At the corner with La Salle Road lies Albion Garden, Louise Garden and Supreme House. Across Oxford Road is Yuet Yuen Garden, Lannox Garden and Cambridge Mansion. Down to the bottom near Waterloo Road is the Kowloon Tong Alliance Church and Alliance Primary School.
