Lamplugh (/ˈlæmpluː/[1] is a scattered community and civil parish located in west Cumbria on the edge of the English Lake District. It is the starting point for a number of walks, and is on the Sea to Sea / C2C / Coast to Coast Cycle Route.
On 2 June 2010 Lamplugh was the scene of the first in the chain of murders known as the Cumbria shootings, when Derrick Bird shot his twin brother, David, who was a resident of Lamplugh.[2]
The local pub is named the Lamplugh Tip Inn, and the village is on the edge of the Lake District National Park. While the village is less than 20 m from the national park, houses are cheaper than in nearby Loweswater, as it is not actually inside it.
