Lakhani (surname)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lakhani is a Muslim and Hindu name found in Gujarat, India, and among people from Sindh, Pakistan, meaning "(descendant) of Lakh". Lakh is most probably a shortened form of an ancestral name, perhaps Lakhman, which goes back to Sanskrit laksmana "one who has auspicious marks". In the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, this is the name of Rama’s brother.

It is a Lohana surname which is from the Hindu caste.
