Lakeland Wildlife Oasis

The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a small zoological collection near the town of Milnthorpe, Cumbria, England, with a science and evolution theme. Since April 2012 the zoo has been run by the registered charity Lakeland Trust for Natural Sciences.^[1]

The centre is divided into several sections, including a butterfly hall and aquarium, as well as an outside walk-through area. The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is a member of the BIAZA organisation, and participates in breeding schemes for several endangered species, notably the unusual Fossa.

In 2011 the zoo acquired its first snow leopard, for which it had built an enclosure with a perspex walk-through tunnel, "thought to be the UK’s first walk-through big cat exhibit".^[2]
