Lake Jasybay (Russian: Джасыбай, alternately Zhasybay) is a lake in Kazakhstan. It is remarkably clean, as the Kazakh government has been committed to preserving the lake's watershed, limiting construction and even forbidding motorized vehicles on the water. As Pavlodar oblast grows in economic affluence, it remains to be seen if local officials will resist the temptation to rapidly commercialize the territory at the expense of its fragile environment.[citation needed]
