Ladislav is a name of Slavic origin and a variant of the name Vladislav, likewise meaning "one who commands (vlad-) glory (slav)", i.e., "glorious". The name is popular among all Slavic nations as well as some neighboring non-Slavic countries. The female form of this name is Ladislava.
Folk etymology occasionally links Ladislav with the fictional Slavic goddess Lada.
