Lacey Conner is a musician and reality television participant best known for her appearance as a contestant on Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and Rock of Love: Charm School. She was also the lead singer of industrial rock band Nocturne and the Belgium new beat band Lords of Acid.
Music
Nocturne
Lacey is the singer of industrial rock band Nocturne who has toured the country with such bands as Pigface, Genitorturers and King Diamond.[citation needed] After forming in 1999, the band has released five studio albums under two separate record labels.
In 2006, they went on indefinite hiatus, due to the band members becoming involved in other projects.[citation needed] In 2007, on the Rock of Love reunion show, they performed their single "Shallow" from Guide to Extinction. They have also done a few shows in Southern California, but have not toured since the break.[citation needed]
Solo career
In 2006, Lacey recorded her first solo music video for single "This Thing Called Love," which was produced and directed by her father Otis Conner.[1][2]
Lacey is currently working on a solo album, which she has stated was influenced by artists such as Gwen Stefani, Pink, and Madonna.[3] On her website, she describes the album as having an edgy feel to it, combined with hooky melodies, taut synthesizer arrangements, and punchy, driving programming, and features sound clips of three solo songs: "That's Just the Way Things Go", "This Thing Called Love", and "Get In".[3]
On January 2, 2012, Conner released the first single and video off her solo project called "The Stranger". The song will precede the release of an EP, as confirmed in her official Facebook page.[4] The song has received a warm reception from her fans, with the video getting 500 views in Youtube after 12 hours of being released.[5]
On June 10, 2013, Conner released the first full length album “Something Evil This Way Comes” with her solo project HALO.
Lords of Acid
In 2010, Conner joined the Belgium new beat band, Lords of Acid, taking over for former member Deborah Ostrega. Her membership with the band lasted only for the Sextreme Ball Tour 2010 and she was replaced by DJ Mea.
Reality television
Rock of Love with Bret Michaels
Season 1
Lacey appeared on Rock of Love. Lacey was the center of quite a few controversies, and had been labeled the "villain". Some examples of her "villainous" behavior includes pulling another contestant into the pool, trying to get another contestant to hit her (which would cause the contestant to be kicked off the show) and harassing contestants to make them "break" so that they will be eliminated. Bret eliminated Lacey for having two sides and thinking that in the end the bad side would win, leaving her in third place.
Season 2
Lacey made a cameo appearance in the third episode of Rock of Love 2 where she along with the LA Derby Dolls were to play the defensive by trying to obtain "Baby Bret" from the contestants in one of Bret's challenges.
Season 3
Lacey is brought back for the third episode of Rock of Love Bus, where she and the University of Illinois Women's Hockey Club were to assist Bret with a challenge, similar to that of second season, by trying to capture Baby Bret from the contestants.
Rock of Love: Charm School
Lacey enters Rock of Love: Charm School the same way she left Rock of Love. Throughout the first half of the season, Lacey maintains the role of the reality villain trying to antagonize the other girls.
She ultimately did express remorse for at least some of her actions, claiming that she thought she was simply making them angry, and didn't know her behavior affected them "on an emotional level". Some of the other contestants questioned whether or not her transformation was real or a strategy. She was expelled in the final episode because headmistress Sharon ultimately did not believe Lacey had changed, and in her exit interview she admitted that her transformation was both real and strategy.
I Love Money 3
Lacey was selected and participated as a contestant on I Love Money 3. The show was set to air in January 2010, but was cancelled by VH1 due to fellow castmember Ryan Jenkins' involvement in the murder of Jasmine Fiore, as well as Jenkins' suicide.
Philanthropy
Lacey is an outspoken supporter of animal rights and environmentalism. In the spring of 2007, she created a charity New Dawn Pet Rescue, now Heroes K9 Rescue, which adopts dogs and cats who are scheduled to be put down at Los Angeles' city animal shelters and finds homes for them.[6]
Lacey is also a supporter of many human rights groups, including those that fight against genocide in Darfur, Sudan, as well as those that help bring food and basic needs to the world's most impoverished children and families.[6]
TV personality
Television host
Conner has started a career in television hosting and spokes modeling. She is the host for a new, rock-and-roll related TV show that is currently in production which is expected to be picked up by a major network channel by the end of this year.[7]
Lacey was also sought out by two separate production companies for a hosting position on two different TV pilots earlier this year.[7]
Spokesperson
In early January 2009, Conner became a spokesmodel for Dean Guitars, and hosted a webcast live from NAMM (the National Association of Music Merchandisers).[8] The webcast was viewed by thousands of people, and because of the positive response, Lacey was asked to come back the next year to the host the webcast for Dean Guitars once again.[7]
