Labour is an unreleased novella written by Laura Albert as JT LeRoy – a persona she has described as an "avatar,"[1] insisting that it enabled her to write about subjects she could not have said as herself. Labour was originally announced with an April 2006 publication date by Last Gasp, in a hardcover edition that would feature illustrations by Australian artist Cherry Hood, after the format of Last Gasp's 2004 publication of the JT LeRoy book Harold's End. The author however withdrew the manuscript; a new publication date has yet to be announced.
