Kvås is a village and a former municipality in Vest-Agder county in Norway. It is located in the Lyngdalen valley in the northern part of the present-day municipality of Lyngdal. The village of Kvås is located along the river Lygna (Lyngdalselva). Other villages in the Kvås district are Birkeland and Moi.

Name

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old Kvås farm (Old Norse: Kváss), since that is where the church is located. The meaning of the name probably refers to a "valley" or "hollow".[2]
