Kurseong subdivision is a subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of the Kurseong municipality, Mirik municipality and two community development blocks: Mirik and Kurseong. The two blocks contain 20 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Kurseong.

Area

Apart from Kurseong municipality and Mirik municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 20 gram panchayats under two community development blocks: Mirik and Kurseong.[1]

Blocks

Mirik block

Mirik block consists of rural areas with 6 gram panchayats, viz. Chenga Panighata, Paheligaon School DaraI, Paheligaon School DaraII, SoureniI, Duptin and SoureniII.[2] This block has one police station at Mirik.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Mirik.[3]

Kurseong block

Kurseong block consists of rural areas only with 14 gram panchayats, viz. GayabariI, Shivakhola, St. Marry'sIII, SeetongIII, GayabariII, St. Marry'sI, SeetongI, Sukna, GayabariIII, St. Marry'sII, SeetongII, Pandu, ChimneyDeorali and Mahanadi.[2] This block has one police station at Kurseong.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Kurseong.[3]

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in the West Bengal, the whole area under this subdivision, viz. the Kurseong municipality, the Mirik block, the Mirik municipality and the Kurseong block will be part of the Kurseong assembly constituency of West Bengal. This constituency will be an assembly segment of Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.[4]
