Kujang is a town in Odisha, India. Kujang is also known as the gateway of Paradip industrial area. Business is the main view on people's eyes of Kujang.As Paradeep is going to be an emerging industrial hub, Kujang is the best place for Residencial purpose. Literacy rate of Kujang is around 71%, higher than national average of 59.5%.

Geography

It is at 5  meter height to the see level, is surrounded by blocks of Tirtol, Erasama, Mahakalpara, Neighbouring District of Kendrapara.Kujang is also having approximate 5 km coast line to Bay of Bengal.Mahanadi is the nearest river of Kujang.

History

Kujang came inside of Jagatsinghpur that formed as district in 1993. Before that, it was a part of the old Cuttack District. It is having a great culture since kingdom era.King Shandha is famous as ruler of ancient Kujang.Narayana Beerabara Samanta is known as Gandhi of Kujang.He started "Salt march" also known as "Labana Satyagraha" in Kujang inspired by Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Mythology

Garh Kujang is famous for its Jagannath temple.History says, when Kalapahada attacked Puri Jagannath temple then Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra was hidden by Bisara Mohanty in Garh Kujang. It is also known as leela khsetra of Lord Jagannath.

Transport

The railway line from Cuttack links Kujang. The nearest railway station from Kujang town is Badabandha Station which is near about 5 km from Kujang. Train service is not frequent; it is better to go by bus. There is frequent bus service available from Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Rourkela and Kolkata. Kujang is only 70 km from Cuttack and 92 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.

Education

Kujang is rich in educational institutes.Bun Behari High School is the oldest high school and Balarampur Upper Primary is also the oldest primary school of Kujang since 1901 AD .Kujang college is the only co-educational institute and Balia college is the only girls college in Kujang.Chatua Girls high school is also located here.Some computer educational institutes such as LCC,CAIT, and many others are helping students to grow their knowledge. Model Public School, Shishu Mandir are the focus Private schools for kids to start their schooling.

Politics

Kujang comes under Paradip Assembly Constituency which formed before 2009 general election and comes under Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha constituency.Kujang is viewed as the political pond of Paradip Assembly Constituency. Dr. Damodar Rout is currently the Cabinet Minister and MLA of Paradip.He belongs to Political Party of Biju Janata Dal. Mr Bibhu Prasad Tarai is currently the Member of Parliament.Both defined Kujang as their political field. Lokanath Choudhry was the past MLA of then constituency of Erasama a citizen of Kujang.

Cuisine

Once Kujang was famous for it's cuisine like chhena(cheese),Dahi(curd) and milk exporting and marketing.Many kinds of cuisines are made here like chhena poda, chhena gaja, Rasagola(Rasgulla).

Government

As Kujang is a block, it consists Panchayat samiti Office, Block Office, Fishery Office, Forest Office, Revenue Office, Tahasil and one police station. There are three courts established in Kujang to give better service to Kujang People.
