Kriti Sanon is an Indian model, actress, and an accomplished Kathak dancer.[2] In January 2014, she made her debut opposite Mahesh Babu in highly anticipated Telugu movie 1: Nenokkadine. [3]

Early life

Kriti Sanon (aka Kriti Shanon) was born in New Delhi. Her father is a Chartered Accountant. Her mother is an Associate Professor at the Delhi University. Kriti did her schooling from Delhi Public School, R.K Puram and completed Bachelor of Technology in Electronics, from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida.[4]

Career

Modeling career

She has modeled for Ritu Beri, Suneet Varma and Niki Mahajan. She then appeared in television commercials, endorsing brands like Close Up, Vivel, Amul, Samsung and Himalaya. She modeled for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2010, held in Mumbai. In 2012, she appeared in Chennai International Fashion week and India International Jewelry week.[5]

Film career

On January 10, 2014, she made her debut opposite Mahesh Babu with the Telugu film 1: Nenokkadine.[6][7] She is set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Tiger Shroff in the upcoming 2014 film Heropanti, a remake of 1983 film Hero.

Controversy

1: Nenokkadine's audio release poster depicting her and Mahesh Babu became a subject of controversy when actress Samantha tweeted "Saw a poster of a yet to be released Telugu film. Not only is it deeply regressive, but it's point is actually that it is deeply regressive."[8] Actor Siddharth, and filmmaker Sekhar Kammula supported her while Pritish Nandy concurred with her, stating "Gross. Poster of a south film featuring Mahesh 'Babu' shows a woman crawling like a dog. Regressive!".[9][10]

Kriti Sanon responded to the issue stating "I would never do anything that would disrespect women in any manner. The shot used in the poster is part of a song and once you watch the song, you will understand that it does not disrespect women. It goes with the lyrics and that's the reason I did it. Making that the poster was a creative call."[11]
