Kristy Michelle Hawkins (born August 28, 1980 in Longview, Texas) is an American IFBB professional and female bodybuilder.
Early life and education
Hawkins earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2002, graduating summa cum laude and with University and Foundation Honors. She earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2005.[1] She graduated from Caltech in 2008 with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering.[1]
Career
In November 2008, she moved to Emeryville, California where she got a job as scientist for metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae at Amyris Inc.[2]
Bodybuilding
At age 15, Hawkins got her own gym membership and went every day after school/work. The owners were hosting a competition and taught her the basics of training, nutrition, and posing, and she has competed every year since age 17. She has twice placed in the top four at the NPC Nationals. In 2007, she won the NPC Nationals and won her pro card. In 2008, she starred in the MSNBC Hooked: Muscle Women, a documentary about female bodybuilding. Her favorite bodybuilders are Lenda Murray, Iris Kyle and Lisa Aukland.[3]
Since 2011, she has semi-retired from professional bodybuilding, but still maintains her bodybuilding physique.[citation needed]

Personal life
Hawkins is agnostic. She was for a time in a serious relationship with bodybuilder Branden Ray,[4][5] but is now single. She currently lives in Emeryville, California.[6]
